Distinct Lack of Sightings from ...

I regularly visit Killingholme haven, generally after a visit to Cress, there being only a few miles apart. It is still a hotbed for Godwits etc, and now the Avocets are there too. The problem is the size of the hide for people I think. Considering the last few years of keeping your distance, cramming into a tiny hide was not a prospect many felt comfortable with. A few times I visited it was full with five photographers, all clicking away, sans binoculars. This then means a walk along the sea wall, which in itself is rewarding... the Dotterel not too long ago.
As for Barton pits, yes another place I visit... but generally in the winter. At the moment it is a pandemic puppy nightmare, with dogs everywhere. I am sure I posted my sightings of a red crested Pochard, red necked Grebe there not too long ago aswell.
I am not familiar with your other mentions, but think I will search them out and have a gander.

Been going to ask this question for a long time.

It's come to my notice since the new forum been on go there is a distinct lack of sightings of places that were regularly reported on such as Kirkby Moor, Kirkby Pits, Moor Close, Barton area including Sailing Pit, Pit 25, Ness & Target Hide and Hotel Hide to name a few in GPC's location. Barrow Haven and Killingholme Haven. I could go on but am sure you all know lots of places that don't land up on the forum.

Are these sites now devoid of wildlife including birds? It's many years that I visited all of them but I remember at Barrow Haven seeing Bittern. At Kirkby Moor seeing my first Adder and almost always had a few raptors and dragonflies etc. Kirkby Pits was always good for ducks etc.  Moor Close had Cuckoo and Woodlark etc.  Barton area pits almost always had cracking sightings, I saw my first Long-tailed Duck and other good stuff! Killingholme was a place I loved to spend hours watching the thousands of waders come at high tide, good for raptors in fact anything. Calling at Rosper Road Pools usually got summat worth having. I always called at East Halton Skitter , it was there I got my first Waxwing. I know this site is well watched by one of our members but the sightings are not published on the forum but on Twitter etc, fair enough.

Maybe all the places I mention are frequented by non-forum using members and their sightings are on Facebook, Twitter etc.

I'm pleased SB came back on the forum cos I always enjoyed going to Walesby Moor once getting my first Tree Pipit and he reports from here and Linwood Warren.

Risby Warren was a place I really enjoyed for the breeding Stonechat's. Seeing assorted raptors and lots of butterflies.

Hopefully I will revisit most of these places!

Regards
