There are hopes a wetland bird mitigation site could be created on land surrounding the  Mawnbridge Pumping Station at Healing, near Grimsby.

The project has been on the drawing board since December 2020 but is understood to have been delayed partly by Covid and partly by issues involving land acquisition from some of the larger multi-national companies on the Humber Bank.

North East Lindsey Drainage Board is supporting the scheme and has been in talks with environmental consultant and wetland habitat designer Roger Wardle.

However, no planning application has yet been submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council.

In the meantime, work is now underway on creation of another wetland bird habitat on land adjacent to the Novartis factory on the outskirts of Grimsby.
