Alternatively we could contact the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust about installing one at either Kirkby on Bain gravel pits or Woodhall Spa Airfield. Don't remember seeing a Sand Martin bank at either site.

All I know about the site is that it's private but will do some research and get back to you. Will also ask designer of the Spurn sand martin bank for plans and a general idea of how much it would cost.

Sounds like a promising initiative. Do you have any contact details for the landowner and/or anyone else from whom permissions would be required? Is the site likely to be disturbance free? How much expertise/ cost would be required to set up the project? If these hurdles can be cleared, there’s no reason (in my opinion) why the venture shouldn’t be a goer. As it says in the LBC constitution, we should be alert to the opportunities of encouraging/ enhancing birds and other wildlife as well as of recording it.

In terms of site I was wondering about Blackmoor Bridge possibly? Never been to the site but habitat types seem suitable. I would be more than willing to monitor the bank for NRS.

Decent idea. I’m sure members would be supportive if a suitable site could be identified with a willing landowner. It would also require some degree of monitoring/ managing.

Sand Martin Bank was created by Jack Dawson
Just seen that Spurn Bird Obs have installed a new Sand Martin bank at Kilnsea Wetlands ( Here ). Is this something LBC could consider doing at a local site?
