We had a very pleasant day at the venue on Saturday catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, and a great couple of hours in the Crown and Anchor in the evening. We saw the common rose finch on Saturday and on Sunday drove up to Bempton and saw the green warbler. A 4 second view after a 90 minute wait! Dipped out on the albatross though

Good stuff, Nick - especially the osprey. It would be great if we could hold our own festival in Lincolnshire in the not-too-distant future. Not impossible. Stand by for an announcement soon on the appointment by LBC of an events organiser.

Had a great day on Sunday, the only day we were able to attend. Did the walk to the point and enjoyed good sights of Red throated divers, an Arctic Skua harassing a common Tern, Bar tailed Godwit, Willow warbler, tree Sparrows and all the usual waders etc. plus five little stints at Kilnsea wetlands. However, the one that got us excited most actually happened on the way home. Just approaching Easington and I spied a large black and white bird perched on a pole at the edge of a field. As we slowed down to look we realised it was an Osprey! We stopped and I tried to get the camera out....and it flew off.
Finally got to meet some other LBC members too, and was really pleased to talk to Phil, Phil and Bill. They even twisted my arm into buying their book. Another bonus was Phil E actually taught me how to use my bloody smartphone

There was plenty of interest in the Lincolnshire Bird Club stand at the Spurn Migration Festival held over the weekend. Pictured are club chairman Phil Espin (left) and county recorder Phil Hyde who were well supported over the two days by sales secretary Bill Sterling. It was a very enjoyable event - more relaxed and less intense and frenetic than its larger counterpart, Birdfair, which this summer (as in 2020) was, alas, cancelled because of the pandemic.
