There was a conspicuous influx over Cleethorpes this morning - 20 or 30 over saltmarsh. No sign yet of any nesting activity on seafront buildings such as the Kingsway hotel, an ancestral site.

All is not lost. This morning, I noticed four or five house martins alighting alongside a muddy puddle on the coastal side of Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.

Swallows and house martins was created by Pete Locking
Phil Espin tweeted that for the first time in 12 years there were no swallows or house martins on his Kedington BBS. My observations over our house in north Somercotes unfortunately mirror this trend. As yet (25th. May) I have not spotted one house martin and swallows on only 4 days. Phil asks are they ever coming back? I think possibly not, as last year was almost as bad.
