I agree with Nick, but, despite the unwelcoming signage, Neil and other LBC members should have no problems with access.
As I understand it, pedestrian access still remains straightforward - just a matter of going through the gate - but the car park is closed, so you have to park by the side of the road.
For insurance purposes, NELC likes newcomers to fill in any paperwork provided in the hide.
Also, it encourages visitors to record their sightings in the book.
I usually combine a visit with a trip to the hide at Killingolme pits.
Best to take a mask to both in case they are busy with other birders.

I imagine they are keeping the signage and gates locked to keep the site protected from n'er do wells. Look what has happened to other sites/hides of late.
I for one (and this is not snobbery) are happy for the site to remain guarded and used only by people in the know, as it were.
Unfortunately, it is located close enough to be visited at night by people that although couldn't do much damage to the site itself, the hide building is a different matter.
Manby and Far Ings should be warning enough.

Where exactly is Cress Marsh please? OS map reference and access route from Gy/Clps area would be helpful.
