Hi Danny

If you go to opposite the entrance to Sykes Farm, head through the gate into the dunes and head to the left about 30 yards until the trees open out a little. Then view the saltmarsh (effectively the area between the west and east dunes below you). When I was there, the birds arrived from about 4pm and from the north, blogging around in parties of around 15-20. We counted 83 and also had a couple of male hen harriers to add to the spectacle.

Regarding the sightings board, we are looking at ways to improve the sightings info. The observatory blog is the best and most reliable source of info at the moment and updated a couple of times a day.

Hope that helps and if you do go, that you see plenty of Water Pipits - its an incredible number!

Matthew

Does any one know where abouts at gib the water pipits can be seen - the gib bird observatory blog says 'the old saltmarsh' ? but i am not sure where this is. Might be a good idea to have a frampton like sightings board/map as the white board at gib gives little indication of where birds might be seen.
