Attended excellent Lincs Wildlife Trust AGM today.

Disappointing to hear that Gib’s little tern colony fared poorly in 2019 - just one chick successfully reared.

Despite best efforts of reserve staff and volunteers, tides and fox predation took their toll.

Prospects for future years don’t look great because the shingle banks are eroding.

Also the four-year funding from the EU has now run its course

As elsewhere in East Midlands, Whisby’s nightingale decline has continued - thought to be down to just one pair plus one other male.

A difficult spring migration season and challenges in its wintering grounds seem to have been factors.

Real shame because Trust has pulled out all the stops to get the habitat right.
