Thanks Pete. I assume it has come from somewhere with ornamentals, but how far or near is obviously guess work. The only Google search, has them at Slimbridge... but I am pretty sure its a first on the Freshney regardless

From what I can gather, Nick, Red-billed Teals are from Southern and Eastern Africa, ie below the equator, and are not migratory. But you never know! Great photo by the way, as usual.

This bird still with the Mallards on the River Freshney in Grimsby. Not aware of any ornamental collections with these birds locally, so I wonder where it came from.
