That's interesting, Pete.  In February 1986 a Tealby farmer brought me a bird in a sack which he had found in his crew yard after a night of gales  It too was a Shag which had also been ringed on the Isle of May as a nestling on 27th June, 1984!

Louth Shags was created by Pete Locking
Two Shags, normally a sea bird, have been present for at least two days on the Louth navigation canal in the centre of Louth! one of the birds was ringed (White EZS) and Phil Espin has chased up the following details :

It was ringed as a chick on the Isle of May on 15th. June this year and was subsequently seen at Dunbar harbour, East Lothian on 9th. October. The movement over the last week is thought to be related to the recent storms in Scotland. The ringed bird is not there today but the Unringed one was still present this morning.
