Received this email today:

Hello NickThank you for sending the photographs which show the flag and colour-ring really clearly on your bird.Y4 is a Bar-tailed Godwit (a different species from the flagged Black-tailed Godwit in your other photograph) and was ringed by WWRG on 25th August 2017 near Snettisham on the east coast of the Wash. This individual will be wintering here but will travel to northern Fennoscandia or western Siberia to breed.I am not the WWRG co-ordinator for Bar-tailed Godwit so I don't have all the records for this individual but it seems that this bird has never been seen by our regular re-sighters since the date of ringing so maybe isn't wintering on the Wash. Co-incidentally we have just received a report that Y4 was seen on 29th December 2021 at Saltfleet in Lincolnshire, less than 20 miles south from your sighting. These birds are marked as part of the long-term monitoring of waders on the Wash by the Wash Wader Ringing Group (wwrg.org.uk). For a small number of the species we monitor (knot, redshank, grey plover, turnstone, bar tailed godwit and curlew), we use colour-rings to increase our ability to observe enough individuals to understand their survival and use of the Wash during the non-breeding season. For this reason, repeat sightings of the same individual are very important and we would be very greatful for any further sightings of this bird and any others that you may come aross. The information for each of these species can be found at the above website.I hope that this is of interest to you.Kind regardsCarole DavisWWRG

This little guy on the sea side of the Buck beck outflow this morning. He was flapping a bit trying to wade across the mud. It wasn't until I got home and downloaded the photo that I realised he had another 'white flag' ring on his other leg, as well as the orange band.
