And of course, they don't get reported on the Forum's latest news if the observer isn't known or if the location isn't given (not in this case)
But of interest anyway

They are anonymous because they do not post on the Forum and I do not believe it is correct for me to give out their names. The information is from talking to them in the hide. As a matter of further interest either last year or the year before, cannot remember for sure, Goshawk were seen for a few days flying over the woods near the reserve and hopes were raised they might eventually breed there but no such luck. This was reported by a few birders but I never managed to see them.

Thanks for that Alan - I still can't quite see why they remain anonymous.

Goshawk sighting in Lincolnshire have always been doubtied by some birders for reasons beyond me although that is now changing.
The 2 different Goshawk sightings I mentioned were by 2 different birders each who have submitted many other records to the British Birds Rarities Committee all of which were accepted.
One is also a well respected bird photographer as well and taken many photos of rare birds he found.

The Goshawk is an interesting sighting by a third party. However, who is the arbiter to recognize a reliable and experienced birder? Forty years as a Bird Club member has made me appreciate that a one persons opinion as to who is in that category is not necessarily shared by others.

If am lucky enough to see one I'll keep it quiet like the other two birders.
Many years ago both myself and a well known reliable and experienced birder had one over the water in East Yorkshire, neither of us were believed by some well known and experienced twitchers!! Plus on other occasions when myself and two others saw a Goshawk on quite a few occasions at a place on the Wolds Way , a certain twitcher would say, I have never seen one when visiting that area to which I would reply, you obviously went the wrong time!!
