Ah yes, you were scanning the fields and horizon, while I was looking for little grebes.
at this time of year, I always hope for wryneck in the orchard/ allotment at the Tetney end of the track - but so far without success.

I thought it was you. You were walking along the river toward Tetney, whereas I was walking along the rough stone road toward the outflow.

Sounds like it could have been me, Nick - I was too puffed out to ride the thing.

I missed the house martins and gold plover at 9am today but, in misty conditions, was happy to see 1 greenshank and six green sandpipers.

Good walk along the river to the outflow, and along the embankment. Great to see around 100 House Martins around the Alms houses, both along the wires but also sat on the Alms houses roof. Also, around 100 Swallows gathering around the sluice outfall. The Plovers are still congregating on the ploughed field facing the embankment too. Interesting to see a colony of mining bees in a clump of earth sat atop of one of the lookout bunkers too.
