We can but hope Nick. I find that if the sightings don't include rarities then 90%+ of the membership aren't interested. On the plus side I took the grandchildren to Sutton on Sea today - the only thing of note was a porpoise sp. far out and 2 Mute Swans flying north about 50 yards out.

You'd have thought with lockdown confinement, especially as its the aged LBC members who are most at risk and therefore more likely to stay housebound, that the forum would be positively red hot with action. Members burning the keys of their computers, frantically trying to engage in forum discussions and eager to keep some sort of contact with the world. You thought there would be new topics galore...'My garden rarity list'...How many tits visit my balls'...'1001 different starling calls'...'What my cat ate'...blah blah
..but no, nothing. Just the same old posters.

I see the forum has 535 users it says and of that amount I would say less than 10% look at the Bird Sightings section and for the Wildlife sections I doubt if 1% look at them, the numbers speak for themselves. What can't speak can't lie!
It's rare to see any of the admin team post any sightings on the forum, they use other forms.
I use the forum because I enjoy reading what members have seen (not that I read every posting) I also have a quick squint at the Twitter feed on the Home Page but only the sightings etc that are shown. The other reason I use the forum is so I have a record of all my sightings that I can go back to at a later stage, even though I have always kept a detailed log book of my sightings. I haven't used Birdtrack for many years but all my sightings and sites are still there I expect.
I doubt very few members will read what I have written, they either can't be bothered or haven't any interest in our forum.
Toodle loo

Only mentioned the age thing cos a good number of those who post are getting on a bit, like me. I know of the Lincs Birding on Facebook but only been on it once, not really interested to be honest, like those who post their pics on there are not interested in posting them on here, if they were we would have a far greater number of pics than already, I may be wrong but since admin asked members to put pics in the albums which some of us did, since then the people putting them on here has dried up! I have tried many times to add pics but it was impossible due to probs on the site.
I can also understand why those who use Twitter etc don't put their sightings on here as well as, I found it time consuming putting it on here and on other sites I belong, so stopped using the other sites and only use this one for a long time now.
As Colin and Stuart said we had a lot more interaction on the old forum be it for info or a good wind up and plenty of laughs. This forum is far too serious I've found and we have very few if any laughs, I always enjoyed winding members up , maybe they didn't, but it was only a game, some people soon bit lol not naming names of course. What is life without a few laughs, well in the past year extremely boring especially when some of us are confined to the home.
Looking forward to seeing lots of good stuff in garden and local patch all being well.
Kind regards
Max

I only post on here and Birdtrack but do watch a group on Facebook called Lincolnshire Birding, you get some good photos on there and might be worth joining, it is free to do so.
