The internal drainage board has responded as follows:

"Unfortunately we do not allow members of the public on the land.

"The key value of the site is that it is undisturbed. The waterfowl and waders which utilise it are easily disturbed due to the exposed nature of the lagoons. Only essential visits are made to manage it by IDB staff.

"Additionally, there is only room for one vehicle at the access point which is off from the dual carriageway and roundabout. There is often very heavy lorry traffic there and it is potentially dangerous to park there and also to depart from it.

"Though the Board regard the Rosper Road site as an important environmental asset, it is also an important working flood relief area. Consequently, it falls within the IDB's Health and Safety policy of not permitting any unaccompanied member of the public on its properties. We also have no need of wardens as our Works Supervisor makes routine visits to the site."

I have written to the drainage board re access and will update forum if/when I get a response.

I think they may have concerns about safety.

Also, they won’t want to attract ne’er-do-wells.

Isn't it a great site! Yep, unfortunately we can, at the moment, only view from the bollards so, are we going to be blessed with access or not?

I decided to call in today after visiting the Haven. I take it you park at the bollarded sidings, or across the road at the locked gates next to the fire station?
Where do you view from though?
The only entrance to the site is via a locked gate that has a 'PRIVATE' sign affixed to it.
Do you just view across from the sidings, looking through the hedge/bushes or is there another access point further round?

Lots of teal, shovelers, shelduck and a kestrel sat watching from the hedge.
