Richardson's canada Goose Branta canadensis hutchinsii. (Possible Escape?)
Frieston Lincs 16th Feb 2003

Similiar in size to a Barnacle Goose, dumpy body with a short thick neck, square head and steep forehead, breast brown toned with a variable pale ( whitish) line at the base of the Neck-sock. At times shows a silvery apperance to the plumage, legs short and bill medium sized.
The small size eliminates all forms bar, Hutchinsii, minima and Leucopareia and as the last two forms are Western and Hutchinsii breeds as close as Greenland it can be expected as a vagrant to Britian.
