Pyes Hall Fall - 9th September 2002 - Graham Catley The south-easterly with heavy rain on September 9th 2002 gave rise to a major fall of Scandinavian drift migrants along the east coast. From 06:20 to 13:00 between Stonebridge car park to Pyes Hall I counted/estimated 70 Redstart, 50 Garden Warbler, 35 Pied and 20 Spotted Flycatcher, 30 Wheatear and 30 Whinchat, plus a few Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat but just 3 Blackcap; also 5 Common Crossbill, Wood Sandpiper, 9 Ruff, Osprey, Marsh Harrier and 2 juvenile Merlin and a single Greenish Warbler!
