Red-throated Diver
Red-throated Diver, Covenham Res 8th March 2004 © Roy Harvey 2004
Red-Throated Diver was taken on Dec. 8th 2002 in really dull wet, windy conditions but it's an acceptable image! (one of two birds that have been Freiston Shore for 2 weeks.) These birds are slightly oiled but have been fishing very successfully, so fingers cross they will return to the sea again. Frieston Shore, December 2002 © Neil Smith 2002 A growing number of oiled Red-throated Divers have been arriving inland over the passed few weeks (early December 2002), also the Lincs coast has some badly oiled birds and there have been 3 at Barton in the last 10 days, and the bird above has been on Pasture House pit, it is clearly not well with oil on the left flank and the centre of the breast, and it is constantly preeing and stretching the neck up as if it has some lodged in the throat! I assume they are from the East Anglian spill unless they have moved this far from Biscay? December 2002 © Graham Catley 2001
