While walking along the bank of the drain at Worlaby spotted one or other of the above, it was about inch and a half in length and a greenish colour. Checked field guide when I got home and the only one it looked like was one which isn't seen in this region the Great Green Bush-Cricket. Wish I'd had the camera but left it in car.

John,
I think Im right in saying that generally speaking grasshoppers have short antennae whilst crickets have very long hair like antennae. Im not 100% sure about this because Im only just starting to learn for myself but I think this is the starting point for distinguishing between crickets and grasshoppers.

Matthew.

Matthew,

Lesson one for me is not to leave camera in the car and to make sure I've got correct specs on.

Cheers

John
