Ferruginous Duck at Barton Pits (16-28th Feb 2001) © Graham Catley 2001 The Barton bird has been on a restricted access site throughout its stay and thus has not been on general release. Review of the Lincs Status There have been just 12 accepted records of Ferruginous Duck involving 14 birds all of those having been sexed have been males apart from a female shot at Baston pits on November 21st 1959. The species is a true rarity with most of the records being historical and with just four birds having been reliably recorded in the last 25 years. There have been a number of Ferruginous type hybrids seen in the last 15 years and a few claims that have not been supported by documentation. All records are listed below: Newsham Lake Brocklesby
